LA Metro Chamber June 11th Breakfast ~ Community Engagement with Non-Profits/Scholarship Breakfast
Thursday, June 11, 2026 (6:45 AM - 9:00 AM) (EDT)
Description
Join us this June for our Chamber Breakfast & Scholarship Celebration, focused on community engagement with nonprofits and the vital role board members play in strengthening our region.
Board service offers a unique opportunity to grow as a leader, expand your network, and make a meaningful impact—while also bringing valuable skills and connections back to your workplace. Strong nonprofit boards help organizations thrive, and in turn, help our entire community succeed. Keynote speaker Rebecca Austin from Safe Voices.
We’re also proud to recognize this year’s scholarship recipients, celebrating the next generation of leaders in our community.
Local nonprofits will be in attendance, giving you the chance to network, learn about their missions, and explore nonprofit engagement—whether through volunteering, board involvement, partnerships, or other meaningful ways to get involved.
Come connect, celebrate, and discover how you can play a role in building a more engaged and vibrant community.

About our Speaker
Rebecca Austin is the Executive Director of Safe Voices, the domestic violence and sex trafficking resource center serving Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties. She has been part of the movement to end domestic abuse and violence since 2009, when she began her career as a Rural Outreach Advocate covering Franklin County. Over the years, Rebecca has grown her work from direct advocacy with survivors to organizational leadership, bringing both personal dedication and professional expertise to her role.
In addition to leading Safe Voices, Rebecca is deeply engaged in local and statewide initiatives that advance services for survivors and strengthen the field of advocacy. Her work has included providing expert testimony and consultation in Maine’s courts and shaping best practices across the state. She serves on two state commissions: the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women and the Maine Commission on Domestic and Sexual Abuse where she currently serves as Chair. In her role as a commissioner, she elevates the experiences of survivors by advocating for survivor-centered public policy, legislation, and collaborative initiatives that promote safety, justice, and equity.
Rebecca is originally “from away” but made Maine her home after attending the University of Maine at Farmington. She now lives in Farmington with her two children and their dog, Baxter. When she’s not working, Rebecca can often be found with a good book in hand or experimenting with a new recipe in the kitchen. Rebecca values time with her family, invests deeply in her community, and strives to build a life centered on service, connection, and purpose.
